WHY RCV IS A BAD CHOICE FOR MINNETONKA

This spring, a small group of Minnetonka residents got together and initiated a petition to put the REPEAL of RCV on the ballot for the November election. Through the tireless efforts of this small group, they were able to gather over 1,800 signatures and have the required 1,512 number of signatures validated to get the REPEAL of RCV on the ballot in November. This is the FIRST successful Citizen-led Ballot Question ever in the history of Minnetonka! 

In 2020, after the Charter Commission said NOT to put it on the ballot, the city council voted to put it on the ballot anyway. With the help of over $144,000 in OUTSIDE, dark money, the ballot question passed in spite of most people having no idea it was on the ballot or even what rank choice voting really is.

Not always. If you don't have a crystal ball and did not vote for one of the final two people in the final round, your vote will be "exhausted" meaning it will not be counted in the final round. It has been eliminated. 

Again, not always.Only a winner in the first round will win with the TRUE majority of the votes cast. After each round, votes are tossed (exhausted) and a new, FALSE majority is established. As an example, in 2017, in the Minneapolis mayoral race, 22,835 ballots were not included in the final round of voting. That's 22,835 voters who did not have a voice in the final round of their mayoral race!
